Actor Scott Hylands Passes Away at 83... Son Grapples with Loss

Veteran actor Scott Hylands, known for his diverse roles in film and television, has died at the age of 83.

The British tabloid The Sun reported that Hylands passed away on March 29th.

Luke Hylands, the actor's son, took to social media on the day of his father's death to share the news. Accompanying several photos, he wrote a heartfelt tribute: "He was a husband, father, actor, director, writer, storyteller, friend, and a man who embraced life with passion."

"It's with profound sadness that I announce my father's passing," Luke continued. "My family and I are struggling to come to terms with this loss. He was my eternal hero and my closest friend."

Reports indicate that Scott Hylands was diagnosed with rapidly progressing acute myeloid leukemia in October 2021.

Born in Canada in 1943, Hylands relocated to New York to pursue his acting career. He made his silver screen debut in the 1969 thriller "Daddy's Gone A-Hunting."

Over the next five decades, Hylands built an impressive career spanning both film and television. He gained significant recognition in the 1980s for his portrayal of Detective Kevin O'Brien in the popular police drama "Night Heat."

His filmography includes notable titles such as "Earthquake" and "The Boys in Company C." On the small screen, Hylands appeared in a wide array of series including "The Streets of San Francisco," "Wonder Woman," "The X-Files," and "Supernatural."
