SAY MY NAME member Shuyi is stepping back from group activities to focus on his health, the K-pop act's management announced Thursday.

Encode Entertainment, the group's agency, released a statement saying, "After careful consideration and discussions with Shuyi, we've decided to temporarily suspend his activities to allow him to fully recover."

As a result, SAY MY NAME will continue performing as a seven-member ensemble for the foreseeable future. The agency emphasized that Shuyi's health will be the primary factor in determining when he'll rejoin the group.

"We sincerely apologize to our fans for any concern this may cause," the statement continued. "We kindly ask for your continued support and encouragement for Shuyi during this time."

This decision follows earlier health issues that began affecting Shuyi's schedule earlier this month. On March 7, the agency had announced that Shuyi would be sitting out upcoming events due to health concerns.

It appears that after closely monitoring Shuyi's condition, the agency determined that an extended break was necessary for his full recovery.

SAY MY NAME, a girl group launched by Kim Jaejoong's Encode Entertainment, originally debuted as a seven-member act. Shuyi joined as the eighth member in July 2022, expanding the group's lineup.

Following Shuyi's addition, SAY MY NAME released their first single "iLy" in August 2022 and has since been actively engaging with fans through various performances and content.

The group will now temporarily revert to its original seven-member configuration as Shuyi focuses on his recovery.
